Volcano Sky
HDR sunset of Dutch sky last April when Iceland’s volcano ash cloud hang for a couple of days over Northern Europe.
This image is more about what you can get thanks to HDR then that it really is about a spectacular sunset thanks to different filtering of light caused by volcano ash.
Expectation was Iceland’s volcano ash cloud would besides keeping planes grounded give for some fantastic sunsets. So I hit the road hoping for the marvel to occur. Nada. Not one cloud in sight. Ditto on the vivid colours. Nevertheless I liked the faint layer of mist over this small ditch and took a series of five one stop difference exposures after the sun was down thinking maybe I could get something out of it if I tried HDR. This is the result. A little bit of the ‘Volcano sky’ I was hoping it would be in reality.
HDR merging and enhancement is done with Photoshop CS3.
