Days are shortening.
Temperatures are dropping.
The wind woke up …
Autumn is almost there.
Only sunset reassures me Summer will be back some day.

Herfst is bijna daar.
Alleen de zonsondergang verzekert mij dat de zomer ooit zal terugkomen.

The first year my hands got glued to my husbands digital SLR. ;D
It has patiently been waiting to finaly get post!
I havent been having much time to work on my most recent images,
so this is a good moment for this ‘oldie’.
There’s no enhancement at all on this image.
It was really one of those spectaculair sunsets that just
makes you say ‘Thank You’ to our loving Creator.

De zonsondergang van 18 november 2005.
Het eerste jaar dat mijn handen vastkleefden aan de camera van mijn Lief.
Ik heb de laatste dagen geen recente beelden bewerkt,
dus dit is wel een goed moment om dit ‘ oudje’ uit
het archief tevoorschijn te halen.
Er is geen enkele bewerking erop toegepast.
Het was gewoon een van die schitterende zonsondergangen waarbij je
niks anders kunt zeggen dan ‘Dank je wel’ tegen de Schepper,
voor het maken van zoiets moois.

Descovering shapes and figurs in the clouds is one of my pleasant childhood memory’s and I still like to do it sometimes.

Vormen en figuren ontdekken in de wolken is een van mijn plezierige jeugd herinneringen.
Eigenlijk vind ik het nog steeds leuk …

Ballooërveld
Het unieke landschap van het Ballooërveld is bewaard gebleven en kreeg uiteindelijk een natuurbestemming.
Zondag hebben wij samen met vrienden genoten van dit authentiek stukje Drents landschap, waar heidevelden, zandwegen, eeuwenoude karrensporen, prehistorische grafheuvels en een kudde schapen ons het heerlijke gevoel gaven, even heel dicht bij de natuur te zijn.

Ballooërvelds unique landscape has been preserved and eventually got a nature destination.
Together with friends, we’ve enjoyed this authentic little piece of landscape from the Dutch province of Drenthe , where heathland fields, sandy tracks, centuries-old cart tracks, prehistoric burial mounds and a flock of sheep for a while really gave us the delightful feeling of being close to nature.
Sunset Drama
This month, record after weather record has been broken here in Holland.
High temperatures, a lot of sunshine hours and lack of rain.
It’s high Summer in Springtime!
In the past this would have been the kind of summer weather we would wish to have in July or August … if we were lucky!
It’s weird to smell dry grass and then look up and see trees that still don’t have leaves.
Tonight after a sunny day, grey clouds invaded the sky as if thunder was on it’s way.
So far … nothing.
This image was a last glimpse of the sun before it disappeared behind clouds.
I pushed up some shadow, light and contrast levels to add a little bit more of drama to it.
Since the ‘Sloten’ series I’ve been shooting RAW and I think I’m going to stick to it.

Het ene weerrecord na het andere sneuvelt deze maand en we hebben het soort weer waar wij normaal gesproken alleen op zouden hopen ergens in juli of augustus!
Het is zomer in de lente!
Uitzonderlijk zomerweer!
En een rare gewaarwording om droog gras te ruiken terwijl sommige bomen nog steeds kaal zijn!
Vanavond verdween de zon uiteindelijk achter een grijze deken en deze foto is van vlak daarvoor.
Het leek er zelfs op dat er onweer op komst was, maar tot nu toe is het onweer uitgebleven.
Ik heb een beetje meer ‘drama’ aan de foto toegevoegd door wat te spelen met
de niveaus van de licht-, schaduw- en contrastwaarden.
Sinds ‘Sloten’ fotografeer ik namelijk in de RAW-stand en dit lijkt een blijvertje te gaan worden.
‘Not The Drivers Seat’
Deze foto introduceert een nieuwe categorie op deze site:
“Not The Drivers Seat“, ‘Niet de bestuurders stoel’ .
Ook als wij op stap gaan in onze vierwieler kan ik het vaak niet laten om –
in ieder geval te proberen – vast te leggen wat ik zie.
Een voorbeeld hiervan was al te zien in mijn vorige blog ‘Beeldsensors’.
Zo uitzonderlijk als in die post zullen ze natuurlijk niet zijn.
Vaak is de kwaliteit van deze foto’s ook niet je van hèt.
Maar sommige beelden zie ik alleen onderweg of zijn alleen vanaf de weg te zien.
Bovenstaande foto is daar een voorbeeld van.
Niet de beste foto van die dag, maar zelfs nadat wij de autoweg af waren gegaan
op zoek naar de mogelijkheden voor wat betere beelden van de bloembollenvelden,
kwamen wij een vergelijkbaar veld – qua kleurencombinatie – niet weer tegen.

With this picture I’m introducing a new category to this blog:
‘Not The Drivers Seat’.
Even on the road there’s enough to shoot. Sometimes I try to capture some of these things.
Because some things are only seen on the road, others can only be viewed from the road.
For example the picture above of the flower fields.
But even after getting of the road to make better images, we weren’t able to find another field like this one (colourwise).
The reason I decided to share this image anyway.
The only thing is that often the quality of these images aren’t the best …
But as there are more of these kind of pictures I would like to share … here’s :

First day of Spring – evening … Surreal!
The end of the first day of Spring.
It made me remember what we read that morning:
