Volcano Sky
HDR sunset of Dutch sky last April when Iceland’s volcano ash cloud hang for a couple of days over Northern Europe.
This image is more about what you can get thanks to HDR then that it really is about a spectacular sunset thanks to different filtering of light caused by volcano ash.
Expectation was Iceland’s volcano ash cloud would besides keeping planes grounded give for some fantastic sunsets. So I hit the road hoping for the marvel to occur. Nada. Not one cloud in sight. Ditto on the vivid colours. Nevertheless I liked the faint layer of mist over this small ditch and took a series of five one stop difference exposures after the sun was down thinking maybe I could get something out of it if I tried HDR. This is the result. A little bit of the ‘Volcano sky’ I was hoping it would be in reality.
HDR merging and enhancement is done with Photoshop CS3.

Scarlet Heights
Scarlet red skyscraper in the Dutch city of Rotterdam.
If you like modern architecture drop by in Rotterdam.
I was there in June with my fellow photography students.
We went on excursion to a photography exhibit in ‘Nederlands Fotomuseum’ and afterwards for a walk, shooting some of this city’s scenery.
I loved the variety of modern style architecture.
Vakantiebeurs 2009 – Cuba

More of the images I’ve taken at this event will follow later.

Cuteness
One of the threats that keeps repeating itself at Dutch Wadden Sea every year
is nursing seals being disrupted by human tourism and fishing activities.
Seals panic, flee and get carried away from their pups by strong tidal currents.
Without the rescue work done by Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre Lenie ‘t Hart
– Zeehondencreche Lenie ‘t Hart in Dutch –
hundreds of these motherless pups would have certainly die.
It’s really touching to see one of those cute faces look at you and realise that fact.
This centre depends solely from public donations.

Fire Sky
For Michael & Candace.
( And all of the other friends in South California)
Hoping that they soon will only have to contemplate
the fire colors of a beautiful sunset instead of
having to deal with the dangers of the current wildfires.
Hang in there … you are in our prayers!
Take a look at Michaels photo set:

Voor Michael & Candace
(en alle andere vrienden in zuid California)
Hopend dat zij snel weer alleen maar naar de vurige kleuren van
een mooie zonsondergang zullen aankijken in plaats van
naar de gevaren van de huidige bosbranden in California.
We gedenken jullie in onze gebeden!

The sunset of November 18, 2005.
The first year my hands got glued to my husbands digital SLR. ;D
It has patiently been waiting to finaly get post!
I havent been having much time to work on my most recent images,
so this is a good moment for this ‘oldie’.
There’s no enhancement at all on this image.
It was really one of those spectaculair sunsets that just
makes you say ‘Thank You’ to our loving Creator.
