According to my dictionary the translation for the Dutch saying I’m using as title is:
"Who learns young, forgets not when he is old."
That title is my husbands brainwave.
He was watching me uploading this image, saying he still had a lot to learn about
all of this photo blogging stuff but before I ended thinking
"What title shall I give this image" he came up with this one
making me look up to him in amazement.
Just so you know, he’s good at this type of split second sharpness.
Yes, if he ever starts posting I’ll let you know.
But for now, "Thank you very much for the title, Honey!"
This is a simultaneous chess play in a department store in Assen.
I’ve learnt it was part of the programme for the Open Drents Youth Championship.
The young man was playing against +- seven players.
Who ever wanted could sit down and test his or hers chess play against his.
One of these players told me he is thirteen years old and quit a talent.
My special thanks goes to the gentlemen you are looking at for giving me permission to
post this image I made of him during his play against this young talent.

Thialf
Looking up at the roof of Thialf ice skating rink.
Shot during midday pause at the ‘Follow the Christ’, District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses,
that took place last weekend in Thialf, Heerenveen. (Dutch province of Friesland)
Frisian TV broadcasted about this Convention:
(interesting side note is you’re about to hear how ‘Fries’
- the local language of Friesland province – sounds.
Interviewed Herman Maijer and Eljada Mets-Dekker are the ones talking Dutch.)

This same convention will also be held at
the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht from 27-29 July (also in English)
and there again from 3-5 August.
From 10-12 August at the Expo Center in Hengelo.

‘Volg de Christus’ Districtscongres van Jehovah’s Getuigen,
dat afgelopen weekend werd gehouden in Thialf, Heerenveen.
De Friese tv zender heeft een korte uitzending aan dit Congres besteed:

Ditzelfde Congres zal ook plaats vinden in de Jaarbeurs

Hierbij nodig ik je van harte uit om de dood van de grootste mens aller tijden samen met ons te herdenken op 2 april 2007. Deze herdenking en de uitleg wie Jezus is en waarom wij zijn dood moeten herdenken, zal op die avond in elke Koninkrijkzaal van Jehovah’s Getuigen worden gehouden.
Voor specifieke tijden en plaats kijk uit naar boven afgebeelde uitnodiging, trek even aan de mouw van één van de Getuigen, kijk of er een contact adres is in jouw plaatselijk telefoonboek of stuur mij een berichtje en ik zal kijken of ik het dichtstbijzijnde adres voor je kan achterhalen.
Congreshal/ Assembly Hall
Vandaag waren wij hier.
De congreshal van Jehovah’s Getuigen te Swifterbant.
Deze keer voor een ééndagsvergadering.
Vooral vanwege de tuin van deze hal neem ik iedere keer het fototoestel mee.
Deze foto’s zijn bij een vorige vergadering gemaakt.
Boven zie je de lichtstraat gezien vanaf de entreehal. Links is de gehoorzaal. En zo ziet het er vanaf de buitenkant uit.
Morgen zal ik enkele foto’s van de tuin laten zien.

Moon eclipse
On the night of March 3 to 4, there was a eclipse of the moon.
I tried making pictures of it and got completly desapointed of the results.
Told everybody I failled …
Today I finally uploaded these pictures to the computer, and discovered that one thing I did do right …
I saved them as RAW!
So, with Photoshop Elements I was able to rescue this one.

Mijn poging om foto’s te maken van de maansverduistering aan het begin van deze maand was compleet mislukt!
Dat dacht ik en dat vertelde ik ook aan iedereen die het horen wilde.
Vandaag heb ik deze ‘mislukkelingen’ eindelijk naar de computer geupload, en wat bleek?
Één ding had ik toen toch nog goed gedaan … Ze opnemen als RAW bestand.
Op die manier heb ik met Photoshop Elements toch nog één foto van de maansversduitering tevoorschijn weten te toveren.
