I always set up our video recorder to record longer then the items I want to see.
This time it unintentionally recorded a Dutch news broadcast about a version, of the above Amsterdam Dutch version of the world-wide Free hugs campaign, in the northern city of Groningen.
Not only because the music of this video is made by the band Henkus from this city but also because Dutch people are supposed to be very down to earth/sober minded/common sense (not sure wich one translates the Dutch word ‘Nuchter” best) and northerners even more!

It seems that this campaign has been going one for quit some time now since Juan Mann started it in Australia.
So maybe you’ve already learn of it. For me it ‘s new.

And …eh … Personally I don’t think I would hug a stranger in a situation like this.
That’s right, I would walk straight by.
But seeing it did put a big smile on my face.

Onbedoeld heb ik een nieuws uitzending van Rtl4 opgenomen die ging over bovenstaande video.
Ik denk dat ik een dergelijk onverwacht aanbod op straat ook straal voorbij gelopen zou zijn!
Maar ik stond toch wel breeduit te lachen toen ik die korte uitzending zag.
Want sympathiek is het idee zeker.
En de begeleidingsmuziek van de Groningse band Henkus vind ik veel leuker dan die van de oorspronkelijke Australische versie.
